Step Into a World of Craftsmanship

This exclusive walking tour introduces not only to the main Florence attractions like The Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Signoria Square and Palazzo Pitti, but more than anything will make you experience the master artisans a hidden world of workshops, tools, and age-old techniques, preserved behind modest doors and tucked-away courtyards.

  • What does the Artisans of Florence walking tour include?

    This private, guided experience includes:

    • A 4-hour walking tour led by an expert English-speaking guide (longer versions up to 6 hours available on request).
    • Visits to some of Florence’s most skilled artisan workshops, including woodworkers, leather makers, bookbinders, stone inlayers (pietra dura), and more.
    • Insights into age-old techniques still in use today—many dating back to the Renaissance.
    • A finale of your choice: either a boutique perfumery or a hand-painted ceramics studio.
    • Optional upgrades for hands-on mini workshops such as marbled paper, leather stamping, or fragrance creation (from €80 per person).
    • Personalised experience design—we’re happy to organize multi-day itineraries or combine experiences to match your interests.
  • Where does the tour take place, and how long is it?

The tour is set in Florence’s historic city center, primarily focusing on the vibrant artisan quarter near Piazza Santo Spirito.

    • Duration: 4 to 6 hours, depending on your chosen package.
    • Every experience is entirely private and done on foot—ideal for travelers who want to explore beyond the main tourist trails while still passing key landmarks like the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Signoria Square, and Palazzo Pitti.
  • How much does the tour cost, and are there extra fees?

    1. The base price is €390 for 4 hours with a private English-speaking guide and includes visits to top artisan studios.
    2. For groups of 6 or more, audio headsets are available for €60 per group, payable locally.
    3. Hands-on sessions (optional) are available starting from €80 per person and can include:
    • Marbled paper workshop
    • Leather bracelet stamping
    • Gilding on wood
    • Perfume creation
    • Please inquire when booking to customize your experience based on interest and availability.
  • Will we get to interact with the artisans and create something ourselves?

Yes! Every workshop visit includes the chance to see the artisans in action and engage with them directly—ask questions, learn about their techniques, and hear personal stories behind their craft.

If you'd like a hands-on experience, you can choose to:

    • Stamp your own leather bracelet
    • Make marbled paper
    • Try a gilding demo
    • Blend your own fragrance
    • These sessions can be added to your tour upon request and offer a meaningful keepsake to take home—crafted by you, inspired by Florence.
